Ayaneo Next Lite has officially announced the product page recently. The operating system used is not the official version, but the first handheld console running Valve SteamOS system. The price is US$299, approximately NT$9,500. Compared to the current cheapest 256GB version of Steam Deck, which costs about NT$13,400, Ayaneo Next Lite can be said to be the cheapest handheld console that can run Steam.

However, the relatively low price means that its hardware specifications are not strong. Ayaneo Next Lite can choose AMD Ryzen5 4500U or Ryzen 7 4800U processor. Both processors are 4 years old, have built-in Vega 8 GPUs, and are not as powerful as SteamDeck’s RDNA 2.

Ayaneo Next Lite is equipped with a 47Wh battery, which has a longer battery life than the Steam Deck and is closer to the newly upgraded Steam Deck OLED, but Ayaneo has not announced the estimated battery life. In addition, it also has a Hall effect rocker, a dual copper tube cooling system, and 16GB of memory.

The handheld console is launched in a bright blue-green color this time. In terms of IO, it includes 3 USB-C2.3 Gen 2 ports and supports the installation of full-length M.2 2280 NvMe solid-state drives.

Ayaneo Next Lite does not use the officially supported SteamOS. According to media reports, it uses a version of the HoloISO project. The system is described as “an attempt to turn the Steam Deck’s SteamOS Holo re-release into a universal installable format and provide a closed official SteamOS experience.” Without official support from Valve, there are more restrictions on the software running on the device. Much.
