The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, lives in two apartments separated by a floor paid for by her partner, a businessman and commission agent prosecuted for two crimes of tax fraud, in competition with another of falsification of documents, and who is being investigated for business corruption and unfair administration in a second piece of that same judicial case. Until now, the couple lived in the sixth floor, acquired by the defendant in 2022, who also paid 5,000 euros per month in rent with the right to purchase to also enjoy an attic located on the seventh floor. Once the penthouse purchase has been completed, the couple settles in two homes that total 387 square meters and are worth more than two million euros, although the current market price would increase that figure by at least one million more.Conversely, the purchase of the penthouse, which was revealed last Wednesday, contrasts with the desperate situation in which the new owner, alberto González Amador, said last week that he was in, personally and professionally. González Amador declared before the Supreme court that the leak of the email that denied the false news and demonstrated that it was his lawyer who had offered the agreement to the Prosecutor’s Office, had destroyed his life.”Either I leave Spain or I commit suicide,” González Amador told the court, attributing to that truthful information the supposed label of criminal that he would carry today.
The sixth floor apartment was acquired in July 2022 by Alberto González Amador at a price of 850,000 euros. The businessman and commission agent hand-delivered 350,000, an amount almost exact to the sum of his tax fraud corresponding to the years 2020 and 2021. He then signed a mortgage to pay the remaining 500,000. The building that houses the two homes is on a quiet street in the Chamberí district,near its border with Moncloa. Work began and the couple was ready to move in close to the acquisition of the penthouse upstairs by Babia Capital SL, so they began to enjoy both homes almost at the same time.
This sixth-floor home has, according to Cadastre data, 186 square meters and another 25 square meters of common areas.In this case, and always according to the Registry note, the distribution is five bedrooms – one major and one “service” -, a main bathroom, and two hallways. To those five bedrooms we would have to add another five,ten in total,from the attic on the seventh floor,located on the opposite side of the floor,which makes it unachievable for them to be joined by construction. But things became intricate for the businessman and commission agent. The Treasury inspection concluded that he had defrauded amounts that reached the category of crime, so the Tax Agency brought the facts to the attention of the Prosecutor’s Office, which filed a complaint in March 2024. In those months, the only “favor” occurred that the previous owner of the penthouse recognizes, who agreed to extend the rental with the right to purchase for another year, until the judicial situation of Alberto González Amador was cleared.

Though, opposition parties have called for greater scrutiny. They question the fairness of the rental terms and the timing of the penthouse purchase. Specifically, they’ve raised concerns about whether González Amador received preferential treatment due to his relationship with Ayuso.
