Buckley, Mescal, and Murphy to Shine at the 2026 BAFTA Awards
Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, and Cillian Murphy are confirmed to attend the EE BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday, February 22nd, at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The ceremony, hosted by Alan Cumming, will air at 7pm on BBC One [RTÉ].
A-List Attendees and Performances
The awards night promises a star-studded event with international names including Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, Emma Stone, Carey Mulligan, Ethan Hawke, and Michael B Jordan also expected to attend [RTÉ]. Irish representation extends beyond the acting categories, with filmmaker Myrid Carten and producers Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe also confirmed as attendees [RTÉ], [IFTN].
Presenters and Musical Guests
Cillian Murphy will take to the stage as a presenter alongside Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson, Bryan Cranston, Alicia Vikander, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Washington, Hannah Waddingham, Riz Ahmed, Regé-Jean Page, Patrick Dempsey, Stormzy, and Little Simz [RTÉ]. The evening will also feature musical performances by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the voices behind HUNTR/X from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, performing their track “Golden.” Jessie Ware will deliver an In Memoriam performance [RTÉ].
Awards and Recognition
Donna Langley will receive the BAFTA Fellowship, and Clare Binns of Picturehouse Cinemas will be honored with the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award [RTÉ]. Clara Amfo and Ali Plumb will host a live stream from the red carpet on BAFTA’s YouTube channel, with Benedict and Hannah Townsend providing digital coverage [RTÉ].
Irish Nominees
Jessie Buckley is nominated for Best Actress for her role in Hamnet, although Paul Mescal has received a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his portrayal of William Shakespeare in the same film [IFTN], [Irish Times]. Hamnet has received a total of 11 nominations [IFTN], [Irish Times]. Steve, produced by Cillian Murphy, is nominated for Best Outstanding British Film, and Myrid Carten has received a nomination for outstanding debut for A Want in Her [IFTN]. The short film Nostalgie and Bugonia and Pillion have also received nominations [IFTN].
