World ID Suite Enters Financial Workplaces to Block Deepfake Fraud
As AI becomes increasingly prevalent in all aspects of our lives, enterprises are requesting individuals provide ‘Proofs’ about themselves to help mitigate fraud and increase trust,
Tools for Humanity President Sandro Herbig said in a release reported by The Block. On Sunday, Oct. 18, the identity project World launched a dedicated World ID verification suite for banks and financial firms, alongside making its Zoom deepfake detection tool generally available worldwide. Co-founded by Sam Altman, the project pushes biometric verification into sensitive financial calls and AI agent workflows to counter sophisticated digital impersonation.
The timing of the enterprise rollout responds to mounting financial exposure tied to synthetic media. An employee at engineering firm Arup transferred $25.6 million in 2024 after joining a video call where every other participant was a deepfake. To combat similar threats, The Block cited a Deloitte forecast projecting that AI-enabled fraud losses in the U.S. could reach $40 billion by 2027, climbing from an estimated $12.3 billion in 2023.
Three Biometric Signals Power Human Badge Zoom Verification
World ID for Zoom lists directly on the Zoom Marketplace following a limited beta that started in April with participant VanEck Funds. The verification mechanism requires three distinct digital images to align before displaying a blue Human Badge next to a participant’s name: an initial capture from World’s iris-scanning Orb, a live selfie, and the active video feed on the call. Enterprise customers choose when to mandate these checks for high-stakes conversations. To support employee enrollment, design partners including Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital, and VanEck Funds will house physical Orb devices inside their corporate offices.

The wider banking suite operates across three verification tiers. Government documents satisfy the lowest tier, while the highest tier employs a Proof of Human check that matches a live selfie against an Orb record. In March, World said it had verified nearly 18 million people across more than 160 countries when it released AgentKit in beta using Coinbase’s x402 protocol. The platform now has more than 18 million people who hold a Proof of Human.
Delegated Identity Connects Verified Users to AI Agents
Alongside video call checks, World introduced World ID for agents—also referred to as AgentKit—which lets individuals assign credentials to an AI agent. Chief Product Officer Tiago Sada likened the authorization to a power of attorney. Each verified user can delegate credentials to a single trusted agent, allowing merchants and third-party platforms to treat that autonomous software as the human user’s authorized alter ego during transactions or digital tasks.
While World positions the suite as an essential trust layer for internal and external systems, specific deployment figures and pricing structures for major banking clients remain undisclosed. The project continues to expand its financial footprint, following the July release of World Money—a self-custody app offering stablecoin payments across more than 150 countries—funded by a $52.5 million WLD token sale through the World Foundation.
