Manchester United Pursues Fermin Lopez Amid Barcelona Resistance
Manchester United faces a significant obstacle in its pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, as the Catalan club insists the player is entirely untouchable. According to a report by Football365, club officials have dismissed transfer inquiries out of hand, maintaining that the 21-year-old midfielder holds a crucial role in their sporting project.
The Premier League club registered its interest earlier this week, with club co-owners INEOS examining potential midfield reinforcements. Transfer journalist Matteo Moretto reported on Marca’s La Pizarra de Quintana show that representatives from Old Trafford made inquiries for both Lopez and Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios during recent Champions League fixtures in Madrid. However, those exploratory talks failed to trigger formal negotiations.
Barcelona Rejects Transfer Approaches for Untouchable Midfielder
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano subsequently dampened expectations of a potential Premier League switch, stating that Barcelona officials view Lopez as a foundational piece for both the present and the future. Romano noted that the player signed a contract extension earlier this year and is thoroughly content at Camp Nou, neutralizing any financial leverage an English suitor might attempt to apply.
A senior source connected to Barcelona reacted sharply to the ongoing speculation when speaking with Football365, describing the links as almost disrespectful given the player’s stature within Hansi Flick’s squad.
“Nobody has spoken to Barcelona about Fermin Lopez, as they know he is completely unattainable. It makes me laugh,” the source stated. “Seriously, Fermin is special—we know that, and showed that with his new contract earlier this year. Hansi Flick knows it, which is why he is a key part of the team.”
