Los angeles – Beloved pop icon Barry Manilow, 82, has announced a further postponement of his Las Vegas performances following recent surgery for lung cancer. The singer shared the news on Instagram, citing medical advice and the need for additional recovery time.
Manilow initially revealed his lung cancer diagnosis shortly before Christmas, explaining that an MRI had detected a cancerous spot on his left lung requiring removal. He had been experiencing bronchitis for several weeks prior too the diagnosis.
“I need a few more weeks to rest,” Manilow wrote, but reassured fans that he is “feeling great” and recovering well. He is already engaging in light exercise and has returned to the recording studio.
The singer had previously postponed several concerts scheduled for January. While initially hoping to proceed with February performances, medical guidance prompted the latest delay. A planned tour of multiple US states, slated for late February through April, remains on the calendar.
Manilow expressed a positive outlook on his recovery, humorously stating his treatment plan currently involves “chicken soup and reruns of ‘I Love Lucy.'” He has indicated that, at this time, chemotherapy or radiation therapy are not required.
