Program Structure and Certification Requirements
The BAYADA RBT Academy combines web-based coursework through BAYADA University with hands-on training, structured observation, and exam preparation guides. Trainees complete the program to sit for the RBT certification exam within a few weeks. Qualification requirements include being at least 18 years of age alongside an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, 48 college credits including specific math and English courses, or a high school diploma paired with a passing score on the ParaPro Praxis assessment. No prior experience is required.
Classroom Impact and Daily Responsibilities
Once certified, RBTs deployed through the Oahu Behavioral Health Team work directly inside classrooms to support school-age children receiving Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Daily responsibilities involve implementing behavior therapy techniques, collecting behavioral data specified in client behavior plans, and collaborating closely with teachers. RBTs also focus on helping students reduce challenging behaviors, increase functional skills, and build independence in their daily school routines.
