Beetlejuice Animated Series to Stream on Tubi

Following the success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, fans of the franchise have another reason to celebrate: the 1989 animated series Beetlejuice is coming to Tubi on March 1st, available to stream for free.

From Big Screen to Saturday Morning

While Tim Burton’s 1988 Beetlejuice was a cinematic success, the character’s adventures didn’t conclude there. In 1989, Beetlejuice launched as an animated series, running for 94 episodes across four seasons. The show initially aired on ABC before moving to Fox for its final season.

A Different Take on the Ghost with the Most

The animated series offered a different interpretation of the titular character than the live-action film. While Burton’s film was darker and more subversive, the cartoon presented Beetlejuice as more of a hero. Michael Keaton did not reprise his role in the animated series. Stephen Ouimette provided the voice for Beetlejuice. Alyson Court voiced Lydia Deetz, replacing Winona Ryder from the original film. Ouimette’s portrayal of Beetlejuice is reportedly closer to the version featured in the Beetlejuice musical than Keaton’s gruffer delivery.

Imaginative Animation and Lasting Appeal

Despite the shift in tone and voice cast, the cartoon retained the quirky spirit of Burton’s original vision. The animation allowed for imaginative sequences, and the series has remained popular with fans despite being unavailable for streaming for some time. Now, Tubi is bringing the series back into the spotlight, offering fans a chance to relive the show as they await potential future installments in the Beetlejuice franchise.
