The trial of Johannes M., a 40-year-traditional palliative care doctor, continues on Monday. He is accused of being potentially one of Berlin’s most prolific serial killers in the post-war era. The indictment alleges that M. Killed at least 15 patients, with the possibility of up to 90 victims.

Son Accused of Killing Sleeping Father

On Tuesday, Rene L., 50, will face trial for allegedly breaking into his father’s apartment in September 2025 and fatally attacking him even as he slept. The prosecution claims L. Struck his father with a hammer and then stabbed him with a hunting knife.

Contract Killing Linked to Organized Crime

Also on Tuesday, Andrey C., 44, is accused of commissioning Oleg M., 58, to carry out a murder. The alleged hitman, Alexandr Z., 58, reportedly ambushed and stabbed the victim in Berlin-Mitte in March 2019 after receiving a €1,000 advance. The motive is believed to be related to financial debts, with connections to organized crime in Moldova.

Hostage Taking and Extortion

Marzahn Hotel Hostage Situation

Teimuraz M. Is set to appear in court on Tuesday, accused of luring two men to a hotel in Marzahn under the guise of a work assignment in October 2025. The victims were allegedly subjected to violence, including having their cell phones confiscated and being threatened with the mutilation of their ears or fingers, as well as death, in an attempt to collect €13,000 in alleged debts.

Attempted Election Manipulation

Wednesday’s proceedings include the trial of Andy K., 43, who allegedly attempted to manipulate the 2021 federal election. He is accused of contacting state parliaments and party offices, claiming to have control over polling stations and demanding nearly €4 million in Bitcoin. The institutions reportedly did not respond to his demands.

Dummy Bombs at Subway Stations

Jean-Ali F., 24, will face trial on Wednesday for allegedly placing dummy bombs at two subway stations in September 2022. The devices, constructed from gas cans with copper wires, a digital clock, and an LED light, caused alarm at the Dahlem-Dorf and Krumme Lanke stations.

Large-Scale Marijuana Trafficking

On Thursday, Anton B., 29, is accused of trading kilograms of marijuana in Berlin between March 2020 and May 2020, utilizing encrypted “EncroChat” cell phones. The prosecution estimates the proceeds to be around €155,000.

Violent Assault by Cargo Bike Driver

Friday’s trials include the case of Caterina W., 41, who is accused of pushing a cyclist off her bike and assaulting her in Pankow in February 2025 after being asked to slow down.

Carjacking with a Firearm

Silvano W., 25, will appear in court on Friday, accused of using a pistol to steal a car-sharing vehicle in Wedding in October 2025. The driver allegedly surrendered the car after being threatened with the gun.
