BlackRock’s IBIT Sees $117.4 Million Bitcoin Inflow in Single Day

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust pulled in $117.4 million in a single trading session on September 4, 2026, according to reporting by Crypto Briefing. This inflow highlights continued institutional demand for the world’s largest spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund, pushing total U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows for the day to $174.6 million alongside contributions from competing funds.

IBIT Inflows and Market Activity

The $117.4 million single-day haul for BlackRock’s IBIT on September 4 followed an even larger influx earlier in the week. According to Crypto Briefing, IBIT alone absorbed $454 million on September 3, bringing the two-day combined total well above half a billion dollars. Fidelity’s FBTC contributed the remaining $57.2 million to the September 4 total, maintaining its position as the primary competitor to BlackRock’s fund, though a wide gap remains between the two market participants.

Cumulative net inflows into IBIT have exceeded $60 billion since the fund launched in January 2024, cementing its dominant position in the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF category. While inflows of over $450 million were considered notable events during the fund’s initial rollout in 2024 and early 2025, Crypto Briefing notes that such figures have evolved into a recurring feature of the market by mid-2026 rather than isolated headline anomalies.

How the Creation Mechanism Operates

According to Crypto Briefing, BlackRock does not purchase Bitcoin for its own balance sheet. The firm operates strictly as an intermediary, transacting in Bitcoin only when clients explicitly instruct it to through the fund structure.

Inflows and outflows correspond directly to share creations and redemptions within the ETF framework. Every net inflow day represents actual Bitcoin purchased on behalf of clients in the open market. These transactions are handled in partnership with designated custodians, including Coinbase Prime, ensuring that reported figures reflect physical asset acquisition rather than accounting abstractions.
