Simone Resigns Following Insurance Venture Investment
Simone Lazzaro has stepped down as Chief Underwriting Officer of REVO Insurance with immediate effect. The departure follows Lazzaro’s personal investment in Vela Insurance, a newly formed company focused on developing software for insurance and health brokering.
Incompatibility Between Corporate Role and Venture
REVO Insurance confirmed that Lazzaro’s involvement in Vela Insurance occurred on a personal basis. According to details reported by Affari & Finanza, Lazzaro holds a 25% stake in the new venture. Lorenzo Granato’s LGP Holding holds 60%, while Wecare Holding controls the remaining 15%.
Wecare Holding counts several high-profile investors among its backers, including former Snam chief executive Marco Alverà, Rosario Bifulco, banker Claudio Costamagna, Luca and Lucio Rovati, and Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. REVO Insurance and Lazzaro determined that these entrepreneurial commitments conflicted with his executive duties, prompting his resignation.
Interim Leadership Structure Announced
Chief Executive Officer of REVO Insurance will assume the responsibilities of the Specialty & Parametric Insurance Solutions area on an interim basis. Meanwhile, Matteo Mambrin retains his role as Head of Underwriting, and Nicola Occhini continues as Head of Market Management to handle intermediary relations.
Lazzaro joined REVO in 2021 after spending roughly 16 years at Allianz. Between 2014 and 2020, he served as head of mid corporate, reinsurance and APP broker at Allianz Italia.

Equity Stakes and Non-Compete Agreements
As a strategic manager, Lazzaro directly holds 46,730 ordinary shares in REVO, according to company disclosures cited by Borsa Italiana. He will also receive an additional 5,292 ordinary shares under the 2025 Management by Objectives plan, distributed partly in financial instruments. The separation terms include a 15-month non-compete agreement.
