Bleap and Mastercard Launch Non-Custodial Stablecoin Debit Card

Bleap has partnered with Mastercard to launch a non-custodial debit card enabling users to spend stablecoins. The integration bridges blockchain assets with legacy financial infrastructure, targeting 150 million merchant locations worldwide with 1:1 fiat conversions.

European Launch Focuses on Self-Custody Payments

The new card follows the December rollout of Bleap’s non-custodial wallet app. That initial release gave users one-click access to decentralized finance yields alongside zero-fee stablecoin purchases. The Mastercard partnership expands those self-custodial capabilities into everyday retail point-of-sale systems. Users keep full control of their assets while spending digital assets at merchants that accept Mastercard.

Centralized intermediaries and traditional Banking-as-a-Service solutions historically dominated payment infrastructure, leaving self-hosted wallets incompatible with standard card networks. Joao Alves, co-founder of Bleap, stated that the new technology allows direct stablecoin spending on-chain without intermediaries. Scott Abrahams, executive vice president of global partnerships at Mastercard, noted that digital currencies are fundamental to the global economy, making spend-simplification essential for consumer adoption.

Transaction Volumes and Global Expansion Plans

Since its beta release in December, Bleap has processed more than 5 million dollars in transactions while saving users 100,000 dollars. The platform offers up to 2% cashback on card spending alongside yield accounts offering 5% on euros and 11% on U.S. dollars. The company plans to roll out the Mastercard integration across Europe first before expanding into Latin America.
