Alicante Hospital to Host Blood, Plasma, and Bone Marrow Donation Drive
The Hospital General Universitario Doctor Balmis in Alicante, in collaboration with the Centro de Transfusión de la Comunitat Valenciana, will host an extraordinary donation drive on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The event will offer opportunities to donate blood and plasma, and to register as a bone marrow donor.
Event Details
The donation drive will take place at the Lucernario of the Hospital Doctor Balmis, operating continuously from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Donors will receive gifts such as isothermic bottles or laptop cases as a token of appreciation. Experiences will also be raffled off, thanks to contributions from various organizations.
Plasma Donation and Bone Marrow Registry
This event expands donation options to include plasma donation and on-site registration for the Spanish Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Dedicated teams will be available to provide information about the plasma donation process, and individuals can complete their bone marrow donor registration during their visit.

Donation Requirements
Individuals who are healthy, over 18 years of age, and weigh more than 50 kilograms are eligible to donate blood. Donors are advised to drink plenty of fluids and avoid donating on an empty stomach. Identification, such as a national ID card, is required. Women can donate up to three times a year, whereas men can donate up to four times, with a minimum interval of two months between donations.
