FromSoftware Blocks Bloodborne Remake Pitched by Bluepoint Games

Fans hoping for a Bloodborne remake received disappointing news: FromSoftware reportedly turned down a pitch from Bluepoint Games to recreate the PlayStation 4 hit. Despite Sony’s acquisition of Bluepoint in 2021 and the studio’s success with the Demon’s Souls remake, the project was ultimately rejected not due to financial concerns, but due to creative control from the original developer.

Bluepoint’s Pitch and Sony’s Approval

In early 2025, Bluepoint Games approached FromSoftware with a proposal to remake Bloodborne. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Sony was receptive to the idea, indicating that the financial projections were viable. However, FromSoftware declined the pitch, stating they did not want another studio to handle a remake of the title. IGN and Polygon both reported on this development.

FromSoftware’s Hesitation

The decision stems from a desire by Bloodborne game director Hidetaka Miyazaki to maintain creative control over his perform. Former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Shuhei Yoshida, previously suggested that Miyazaki is protective of Bloodborne and hesitant to allow others to modify or recreate it. Yoshida stated that Miyazaki “really, really loved Bloodborne” and, whereas potentially interested in a remake, is too busy with current projects to oversee it himself. Eurogamer highlights this point.

What This Means for Future Updates

While a full remake appears unlikely, this doesn’t necessarily rule out other forms of updates for Bloodborne. A remaster, a PC port, or even a performance patch for the original PlayStation 4 game could still be possibilities. These options would be less extensive and invasive than a complete remake, potentially making them easier to implement and gain approval from FromSoftware. However, as long as both Sony and FromSoftware remain silent on the matter, any future plans remain speculative.

Bluepoint’s Recent History

Prior to the remake pitch, Bluepoint Games was working on a live-service God of War game, which was ultimately canceled in January 2025. The studio was then encouraged to explore other projects, leading to the Bloodborne remake proposal. Bluepoint was shuttered by Sony earlier in February 2026. TheGamer provides additional context on Bluepoint’s recent projects.

The situation remains fluid, and the future of Bloodborne remains uncertain. For now, fans will have to continue hoping for some form of update or continuation of the beloved action RPG.
