Trey Yesavage: The Rising Star Pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays

Trey David Yesavage, born July 28, 2003, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut on September 15, 2025, for the Toronto Blue Jays and wears jersey number 39. Yesavage bats left and throws right.

Early Life and Education

Yesavage is the oldest of three children of Dave and Cheryl Yesavage. He grew up in Boyertown, Pennsylvania and attended Boyertown Area High School.

College Career

Yesavage played college baseball for the East Carolina Pirates at East Carolina University. During his freshman season, he served as a relief pitcher and posted a 4.50 earned run average (ERA) over 34 appearances. He spent the summer playing for the Charlottesville Tom Sox in the Valley Baseball League. In his sophomore year, he transitioned to a starting pitcher role, achieving a 7–1 win–loss record with a 2.61 ERA and 105 strikeouts. For his performance, he earned All-AAC honors and was named a second-team All-American. After the season, he was selected to play for the Team USA Collegiate National Baseball Team. Entering his junior season, he was named a preseason first-team All-American and posted an 11–1 win–loss record with a 2.00 ERA.

Professional Career

Yesavage was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut on September 15, 2025. Through the 2025 season, he compiled a 1–0 win–loss record, a 3.21 ERA, and 16 strikeouts. He has played exclusively for the Toronto Blue Jays since his debut.

Recognition and Rankings

As of the 2025 season, Yesavage is ranked as the ninth-best prospect in baseball and is the Toronto Blue Jays’ top prospect according to Major League Baseball’s 2025 prospect rankings.
