Men’s Basketball Falls to Concordia Stingers, 84-78

MONTREAL – The Bishop’s Gaiters men’s basketball team fought hard but ultimately fell to the Concordia Stingers 84-78 on Saturday afternoon. the game was a back-and-forth battle, but the Stingers were able to pull away in the final minutes.

concordia started strong, taking an early lead. Bishop’s responded with a strong second quarter, led by excellent shooting from guard, Antoine Mason. Mason finished the game with 22 points.

The third quarter saw both teams trading baskets. Bishop’s forward, Nick fillion, contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds, earning a double-double. Though, Concordia’s consistent offense proved tough to contain.

In the fourth quarter, Concordia extended their lead with key baskets and strong defense. Bishop’s attempted a comeback, but turnovers and missed shots hindered their efforts. Concordia’s guard, DeShawn Jackson, led all scorers with 25 points.

“We played a good game, but we made some crucial mistakes down the stretch,” said Bishop’s head coach, John Smith. “concordia is a tough team, and we need to learn from this loss.”

Bishop’s shot 45% from the field, while Concordia shot 48%. Rebounding was relatively even, with both teams grabbing 35 boards.
