BMW to Launch Neue Klasse Electric SUV iX3 in Indonesia in 2026
Jakarta – BMW Group Indonesia is set to introduce its next-generation electric SUV, the iX3, to the Indonesian market in 2026. This model will be the first vehicle to feature BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, representing a significant step towards electrification, digitalization, and sustainability for the automaker in Indonesia.
Neue Klasse Platform and iX3 Design
The BMW iX3, first unveiled at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Germany, embodies a new design language for BMW. Key features include a vertically oriented BMW kidney grille with integrated lighting elements, replacing traditional chrome accents. The vehicle maintains a muscular SUV profile while achieving a drag coefficient of 0.24 through improved aerodynamics.
Inside, the iX3 boasts a minimalist interior with fewer physical buttons. It incorporates BMW’s latest digital system, the Panoramic iDrive, which displays vehicle information across the entire windshield via the Panoramic Vision feature. A free-form center screen and an optional 3D head-up display further enhance the digital experience. The interior also features a distinctive four-spoke steering wheel design.
Performance and Battery Technology
The iX3 is equipped with BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, delivering up to 469 hp of power and 645 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4.9 seconds, with a maximum speed of 210 km/h.
Powering the iX3 is a 108.7 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 805 km (WLTP standards) on a single charge. Utilizing an 800-volt electric architecture, the vehicle can gain up to 372 km of range in just 10 minutes at a 400 kW fast-charging station. Charging from 10% to 80% is estimated to grab approximately 21 minutes.
Pricing and Market Expectations
In Germany, the BMW iX3 is priced starting at around €70,900, which translates to approximately IDR 1.2 billion at an exchange rate of IDR 17,000 per euro. However, BMW vehicles in Indonesia typically carry a higher price tag due to taxes, import costs, and distribution structures.
For comparison, the BMW iX, currently sold in Indonesia, starts at IDR 2.545 billion, approximately 80% more expensive than its German price of around €83,500 (IDR 1.4 billion). Applying a similar premium, the iX3 could potentially be priced between IDR 2.1 billion and IDR 2.3 billion in Indonesia. BMW Indonesia has not yet announced the official price.
