BMW M2 Receives M Performance Track Kit for Enhanced Circuit Performance

The BMW M2, the most accessible model within the BMW M lineup and the last without electrification, is set to receive a significant performance upgrade with the introduction of the M Performance Track Kit. Available from July 2026, the kit is designed to enhance the car’s capabilities on the racetrack while remaining fully road-legal.

Aerodynamic Enhancements

The M Performance Track Kit features a manually adjustable front splitter, designed to increase front axle downforce and improve high-speed cornering stability. BMW has also incorporated dive planes on the front bumper and a scoop under the engine oil cooler to further enhance aerodynamic performance [Car and Driver]. At the rear, a swan-neck rear wing, borrowed directly from the BMW M4 GT4 and M4 GT3 race cars, provides increased downforce. This rear wing is manually adjustable, offering both “Street Mode” for road apply and a “Race Mode” that extends the wing by nearly two inches for maximum aerodynamic efficiency [Car and Driver]. The rear wing also integrates a brake light.

Suspension Upgrades

Central to the kit’s performance gains are the threaded coilover dampers, featuring four-way adjustable rebound and compression damping. Adjustable support bearings are also included. These components allow for a reduction in ride height of up to 20 millimeters (0.79 inches) at both axles, lowering the center of gravity and reducing aerodynamic lift [Daxstreet]. BMW states this is its first motorsport damper system engineered to retain road approval.

Pricing and Availability

The M Performance Track Kit will be available for order in the third quarter of 2026. In Germany, the kit is priced at 23,500 euros (approximately $25,600 USD as of March 3, 2026) excluding VAT and assembly [BMW Press Release]. Pricing for other markets, including the Czech Republic, has not yet been announced.

M Performance Exhaust System for M2 CS

Alongside the Track Kit, BMW M has also introduced a new M Performance exhaust system specifically for the M2 CS model. This exhaust system offers multiple setting modes for a more pronounced sound and features end caps available in carbon and titanium. The new exhaust system also reduces the car’s weight by approximately eight kilograms. In Germany, the exhaust system is priced at 8,343.50 euros (approximately $9,080 USD as of March 3, 2026) excluding assembly [BMW Press Release].

The development of these upgrades was undertaken by specialists from the BMW M division, who also tune the company’s racing cars, ensuring a high level of performance and quality [BMW Press Release].
