Universal Pictures is developing a biopic centered on the early years of Bon Jovi, the iconic rock band that has sold over 130 million albums and earned induction into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The project emerged following a competitive bidding process among multiple studios, as Deadline first reported.

Key Details of the Biopic

The film will focus on the “formative years” of the band, charting their rise from Modern Jersey origins to global stardom. Jon Bon Jovi will be involved in the production, and Universal has secured access to the band’s extensive music library, ensuring the film can feature their hit songs like “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” and “Runaway” Consequence reports.

Creative Team

Cody Brotter, known for his work on scripts like Drudge and Killing Satoshi, has been tapped to write the screenplay. Variety notes that Kevin J. Walsh (Manchester by the Sea, Napoleon) and Gotham Chopra (who directed the 2024 Hulu documentary series Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story) will produce the film. Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for Universal Pictures.
