Police Apprehend Three Teenagers After Brief Chase

Police located the first teenager nearby on railroad tracks, where he was taken into custody. Around the same time, a Norwood police public safety aide spotted the remaining two suspects on the department’s traffic camera system near Washington Street and Walnut Avenue. When officers attempted an intervention, the two teenagers fled before being apprehended at gunpoint following a brief chase.

Authorities subsequently recovered a handgun and a loaded magazine on the ground near the escape route, which matched the victim’s description of the weapon. A backpack associated with the teenagers was found to contain a green laser firearm attachment alongside property stolen from the victim.

Teenagers Face Arraignment as Chief Notes Juvenile Gun Crime

The three teenagers were scheduled for arraignment on Monday in Dedham Juvenile Court. Norwood Police Chief Christopher Padden noted that the suspects were apprehended swiftly in a populated area without injuries to officers, suspects, or the public, while discussing how the incident affects local public safety. The sad truth is that we’ve had a lot of juvenile gun crime recently, and I think that’s one of the big problems that we’re facing nowadays, Padden said.
