Tyne Daly, Max von Essen to Star in New Production of ‘Brigadoon’ at Pasadena Playhouse
Tony Award and Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly and Tony Award nominee Max von Essen will lead the cast of the Pasadena Playhouse’s upcoming production of Lerner & Loewe’s Brigadoon. The musical will run from May 13 to June 14, 2026, with an official opening night on May 17.
A Timeless Tale of Magic and Romance
Brigadoon, which premiered on Broadway in 1947, tells the story of two American travelers, Tommy and Jeff, who stumble upon a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years. The musical explores themes of love, destiny, and the allure of a life untouched by time. When Tommy falls for Fiona MacLaren, a local woman, he must decide if he’s willing to embrace a life in this enchanted village.
Casting and Creative Team
In addition to Daly as Widow Lundie (a role originally written as Mr. Lundie) and von Essen as Tommy Albright, the production will feature Betsy Morgan as Fiona MacLaren, Happy Anderson as Jeff Douglas, and Daniel Yearwood as Charlie Dalrymple. BroadwayWorld first reported the casting news on March 2, 2026.
Katie Spelman will direct and choreograph this new adaptation of Brigadoon, penned by Alexandra Silber, inspired by the original book by Alan Jay Lerner. The production will feature lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe.
A Beloved Musical Classic
Brigadoon is renowned for its lush score, including beloved standards like “Almost Like Being In Love” and “The Heather on the Hill.” The Pasadena Playhouse production promises a heart-stirring journey into a world where time stands still and love knows no bounds. TheaterMania highlighted the revised adaptation by Alexandra Silber.
