A BRIT tourist is fighting for his life after being slashed by a knifeman in a beach bar in Thailand.

The 34-year-old was drinking in a bar on the popular holiday island of Phuket when he was set upon by another holidaymaker in the early hours of this morning.

The 34-year-old was enjoying a drink at a beach bar in Koh Phangan when he was allegedly set upon by a man wielding a knife.

Local reports claim the attacker launched a frenzied assault, stabbing the Brit multiple times before fleeing the scene.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. His condition is currently critical but stable, according to reports.

Police are hunting for the attacker, with a description circulating of a man believed to be a local resident.

The motive for the attack remains unclear,and investigators are exploring all possibilities,including a potential random act of violence or a dispute with the attacker.

A witness told local media: “It was terrifying. The attacker just came out of nowhere and started stabbing him. Everyone was screaming and running for cover.”

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has been contacted for comment.

This incident comes as a stark reminder of the risks tourists can face while travelling abroad. The FCDO advises British nationals to be aware of their surroundings and take appropriate safety precautions when visiting Thailand.

A British tourist is in hospital fighting for his life after being stabbed multiple times on the Thai island of Phuket.

The incident occurred near Maya Beach,famed for its appearance in the film The Beach,at around 12:20am local time. The victim, whose name has not been released, was reportedly bleeding heavily from multiple wounds when he staggered from a building and collapsed in front of a beachside restaurant.

Paramedics found the man slumped and barely responsive and rushed him to Thalang Hospital, where he remains under emergency treatment.

Local reports from The phuket News state that the attacker fled the scene and is currently at large.Police are hunting a foreigner in connection with the stabbing.
