NBC Los Angeles reports she was booked shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday and released shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday, according to jail records. Her vehicle was towed following the arrest.

A representative for Spears released a statement calling the incident “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.” The statement, reported by CBS News and ABC7, continued, “Britney is going to capture the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.
