Broadway San Diego Announces 2026-27 Season, Including Tony-Winning Productions

Broadway San Diego’s 49th season will bring seven currently running Broadway shows to the San Diego Civic Theatre, starting in September 2026. The lineup includes the Tony Award-winning play “Oh, Mary!” and several other critically acclaimed musicals and plays, offering theater fans a chance to experience the best of Broadway without traveling to New York.

Season Highlights

The 2026-27 season will kick off with “Oh, Mary!” from September 29 to October 4, 2026. Other productions include “The Outsiders” (November 3-8, 2026), “Buena Vista Social Club” (April 13-18, 2027), “Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical” (April 20-25, 2027), “Maybe Happy Ending” (June 1-6, 2027), “The Great Gatsby” (June 22-27, 2027), and “Death Becomes Her” (August 10-15, 2027).

About “Oh, Mary!”

“Oh, Mary!” is a dark comedy that reimagines the life of Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The play, written and originally performed by Cole Escola, portrays Mrs. Lincoln as an unhappy alcoholic with unfulfilled dreams of a cabaret career. Cole Escola won a Tony Award for their performance in the play, becoming the first openly non-binary actor to receive a Tony for Leading Role in a Play. The production similarly received the Drama League Award for Outstanding Play and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Broadway San Diego will present “Oh, Mary!” from September 29 to October 4, 2026.

In addition to the seven-present package, Broadway San Diego offers four optional add-ons: “The Phantom of the Opera” (September 2-13, 2026), Disney’s “The Lion King” (February 18-March 7, 2027), “Mamma Mia!” (June 15-20, 2027), and “Bluey’s Huge Play” (November 13-15, 2026) at the Balboa Theatre.
