Odymel Faces Sexual Misconduct Allegations, Performances Canceled
Brussels-based DJ Antoine Lauffer, known professionally as Odymel, is facing allegations of sexual misconduct, leading to the cancellation of several upcoming performances. The controversy began following accusations made online, with Lauffer claiming the alleged incident occurred while sleepwalking – a condition he identifies as sexsomnia.
Allegations and Response
The allegations surfaced last week when an Instagram account, believed to be linked to the management company STEƎR, posted accusations against Lauffer and other artists. The claims included allegations of attempted silence payments related to sexual assault. Lauffer has responded by stating the alleged incident occurred while he was sleepwalking, citing a condition known as sexsomnia [Archyde].
Industry Response and Cancellations
Following the accusations, STEƎR Management dropped Lauffer and other implicated artists, initiating a review of the situation [Archyde]. The agency’s roster and recent social media posts have since been removed.
Glitch Festival, scheduled for this summer in Malta, was the first to cancel Odymel’s scheduled DJ set, stating the decision was made in light of the allegations [Archyde]. Times of Malta reported on the festival’s decision.
A performance at Brussels Gate on March 14th has also been cancelled by the Hangar art collective, and other festivals and clubs are reportedly reconsidering their bookings [Archyde].
Odymel’s Recent Performances and Background
Odymel, described as part of a novel generation of producers blending house, techno, trance, and eurodance, gained prominence following the success of his track “Gucci” [Dour Festival].
