Tecno Camon 50 Series Launches with 144Hz AMOLED Displays and Helio G200 Chipset

Tecno has officially launched the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro smartphones, initially in select African markets, ahead of their preview at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026. Pre-orders for the series began on February 23, 2026, targeting mid-range photography enthusiasts with features like AMOLED displays, large batteries, and versatile camera systems.

Design and Display

Both the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro feature 6.78-inch curved 1.5K AMOLED displays with a 144Hz refresh rate, designed for smooth gaming and multimedia experiences. The Camon 50 Pro measures 162.37 x 76.97 x 7.38 mm and is available in Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Ethereal Blue. The Camon 50, with dimensions of 162.37×77.17×7.53 mm, comes in Mint Cream. Both models include dual Dolby Atmos speakers for enhanced audio.

Performance and Battery

The Tecno Camon 50 Series is powered by the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with the option of up to 16GB of virtual RAM. A large 6,150mAh battery provides power, supported by 45W quick charging. The battery is expected to have a 5-year lifecycle.

Camera Capabilities

Both phones share a 50-megapixel Sony LYT700C main sensor. The Camon 50 also includes an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens. The Camon 50 Pro distinguishes itself with the addition of a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). Both feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

Software and Durability

The Camon 50 Series runs on TECNO’s HiOS 16 operating system, based on Android 16, with a promise of up to 3 major Android upgrades. Both devices boast an IP68/69/69K rating for dust and water resistance and include a One-Tap AI Key.

Pricing and Availability

In Kenya, the Camon 50 is priced at KES 37,500 (approximately $290), whereas the Camon 50 Pro is available for KES 44,000 (around $340). The Tecno Camon 50 4G is expected to be released on March 7, 2026.
