Bugarach Quartet Performs “Paroles” by Jacques Prévert in Concert

Le Projet Prévert is a quartet composed of Jean Clair, on drums; Ghislain Hick, on bass and double bass; Pascal Cabéro, on guitar; and Denis Leblond, on voice.

Basically, there were occasional collaborations during open scenes at the Cerf-volant, then the desire came to set author’s texts to music. No member of the quartet really knew the poems of Jacques Prévert, apart from those that each recited with their hands behind their backs at school, then Prévert came as an obvious choice.

They began to collectively compose music on The controller and they let themselves be drawn into this writing, breathtaking and incredibly contemporary, to offer, a year later, a set of an hour and a quarter concert.

The music has become images carried by the texts which, for many, are views of the author like photos or films. It is no coincidence when we know that Prévert was first known as a screenwriter, notably by Marc Allégret and Marcel Carné. Most of the texts set to music were taken from the collection Wordsbringing together poems written in the 1930s-1940s. Dark texts, like at the time, ironic, rebellious, sometimes desperate, but also luminous and loving. Prévert in all its forms that they translated and interpreted in rock sounds but also funk, jazz or even 3-time waltz.

The first concert took place in December at Le Cerf-Volant and Sunday 15th, in Bugarach, will therefore be the second.

Sunday February 15 at 5 p.m., concert at Bugarach Castle, conference room.
