Burgenland Trails Kick Off Cycling Season with “Losradeln” Event on March 21st

Lockenhaus, Austria – The Burgenland region is set to officially launch its cycling season on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, with the “Losradeln” (Let’s Cycle) campaign. The event will feature a variety of cycling activities and events across southern Burgenland, with additional events planned throughout the region in the coming weeks.

Event Highlights on March 21st

The primary focus of the kickoff event will be centered around three key locations: Lockenhaus and Rechnitz on the Burgenland Trails, Bad Tatzmannsdorf on the Bahntrassenweg (railway cycling path), and Stegersbach with events around its cycle paths. Each location will offer unique programs and refreshment stations for participants.

Lockenhaus & Burgenland Trails

At 10:00 AM, the official start signal will be given at Burgsee Lockenhaus for the “Kickoff on the Burgenland Trails” event. Visitors can expect a diverse program centered around mountain biking, including:

  • E-bike rentals
  • Exhibitors showcasing mountain biking equipment
  • A bouncy castle and slide for children
  • Food and drink provided by the Schaltwerk association
  • A guided ride led by Peter Mihalkovits, meeting at the Passhöhe parking lot at 11:00 AM
  • A photo point at the Action Corner near Margarethenwarte from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

The Burgenland Trails will be freely accessible from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A free bike shuttle will operate throughout the day, with the last uplift from Lockenhaus/Burgsee and Rechnitz/Badesee at 3:30 PM. Burgenland Tourismus

Rechnitz & Badesee

Rechnitz will host an active program for children from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, including biking on a pump track, bouldering, archery, and canoeing (subject to change). At 12:00 PM, the new restaurant “Tiffany am See” will open at the Badesee Rechnitz. Südburgenland.info

Bad Tatzmannsdorf & Bahntrassenweg

The “Losradeln” event will also kick off on the railway cycling path from Bad Tatzmannsdorf towards Rechnitz at 10:00 AM. Shuttle buses will return to Bad Tatzmannsdorf at 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

Cycling Events Throughout Burgenland

Beyond the March 21st kickoff, Burgenland will continue to focus on cycling with leisure cycling events in eight communities in northern Burgenland and family-friendly events in Podersdorf. A bike and trolley tour is also planned in Central Burgenland.
