Gervonta Davis Settles Civil Lawsuit in Miami

Former three-division boxing champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis has resolved a civil lawsuit in Miami where his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, accused him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to court records reported by ESPN.

Rossel voluntarily dismissed her civil proceedings against Davis with prejudice on Thursday, meaning the claim cannot be refiled. While the civil matter is closed through a confidential out-of-court settlement confirmed by Rossel’s attorney, Richard Wolfe, active criminal charges against the boxer remain unresolved.

Surveillance Footage Captures Attack at Miami Club

The legal dispute stems from an alleged October 27, 2025, incident at Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami, where Rossel worked as a VIP cocktail server. Court records and police reports state the altercation involved Davis attacking and holding her in a back room before releasing her in the parking lot.

A Florida courtroom played surveillance video of the altercation during March proceedings, showing Davis grabbing Rossel by the hair and pushing her out of a backstage hallway and into the club’s parking lot, where she escaped his grip to flee back inside. Davis, now 32, faces two felony charges of attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment alongside one misdemeanor battery charge in the ongoing criminal case.

Legal Troubles Force Cancellation of Scheduled Bout

Davis was also scheduled to face Jake Paul in November 2025, but that bout was scrapped due to his ongoing legal troubles.

Davis carries a documented history of legal difficulties outside of boxing. In 2023, he received a sentence of three years’ probation and 90 days of house arrest stemming from a hit-and-run case in Baltimore.

Criminal Case Proceeds Toward November Court Date

With the civil litigation officially closed via the confidential settlement, attention shifts entirely to the criminal docket. Davis is scheduled to return to court for his next status hearing on November 17.
