Second-Generation BYD Seal 07 Launches in China With Lower Prices and Longer Range
BYD launched the second-generation Seal 07 in China, dropping starting guide prices by up to 12 percent while extending driving ranges across both its all-electric and plug-in hybrid variants, CnEVPost reported. The updated lineup is available in five trims with official guide prices ranging from 139,900 yuan ($20,830) to 172,900 yuan. The release comprises two DM-i plug-in hybrid variants and three all-electric variants.
The all-electric version starts at 149,900 yuan, marking a 20,000 yuan—or roughly 12 percent—reduction compared to the Seal 07 EV launched on March 5 this year. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid starts at 139,900 yuan, which is 9,900 yuan, or about 7 percent, lower than the 2026 Seal 07 DM-i introduced in September 2025. BYD also offered trade-in prices ranging from 135,900 yuan to 168,900 yuan, representing a 4,000-yuan discount from each variant’s guide price subject to eligibility requirements.
New Models Grow Longer with Electric Motor Power
Both the all-electric and plug-in hybrid versions measure 5,080 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,495 mm high, featuring a 2,960 mm wheelbase. These dimensions make the new models 85 mm longer with a 60 mm longer wheelbase than their outgoing counterparts, while widths have increased by up to 60 mm.

All three all-electric variants share a single rear-mounted motor and rear-wheel drive configuration, delivering a maximum output of 245 kW and peak torque of 365 Nm. Powered by a 76.744-kWh second-generation Blade Battery supporting flash charging, the all-electric models achieve a CLTC range of 775 kilometers. This represents an increase of 70 kilometers over the March release. The all-electric variants accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and feature a standard heat pump system.
The two DM-i plug-in hybrid variants pair a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing up to 115 kW with a 160-kW front motor. Equipped with a 38-kWh battery, these front-wheel-drive variants deliver a CLTC electric range of 330 kilometers, up 100 kilometers from the previous maximum of 230 kilometers. The plug-in hybrids complete the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 7.7 seconds and record an NEDC fuel consumption of 3.3 liters per 100 kilometers with a depleted battery.

Trims Offer Varying Driver Assistance and Suspension Systems
Driver-assistance features vary across the five trims. The two higher-priced all-electric variants and the higher-priced DM-i variant come standard with God's Eye C, which supports highway and urban expressway driving assistance. Buyers of these three trims can also opt for the LiDAR-equipped God's Eye B system for city driving assistance. Entry-level trims for both powertrains feature conventional cruise control without driving assistance options.
For the chassis, all-electric variants utilize front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension systems. Lower-priced all-electric trims feature the DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system, while the flagship all-electric variant uses the DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological body control system. Both DM-i variants incorporate DiSus-C.
Seal Lineup Faces Declining Sales Amid Generational Update
The generational update arrives as sales across the Seal lineup face downward pressure. The Seal series sold 46,834 vehicles in October, representing a 19.32 percent decline year-on-year, though up 0.25 percent from September, according to CnEVPost data. Across the first ten months of the year, cumulative sales for the Seal lineup reached 351,557 vehicles, down 14.85 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. BYD also confirmed plans to debut a new model, likely the next-generation Han, at the upcoming Guangzhou Auto Show.
