Season 1 Updates for Modern Warfare 4

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is launching its first season of content, introducing a series of gameplay adjustments, map rotations, and enforcement measures against unauthorized third-party software. The update includes a new 100-tier Battle Pass system and expands the DMZ mode with a fresh exclusion zone, [callofduty.com] reported.

Four New Maps Expand the Multiplayer Experience

The Multiplayer experience expands with four new maps, including the return of Shoot House. Joining the rotation are Backstab, which features a snow-covered town environment, and Canyon, a map designed with a mix of open spaces and vertical terrain. Alongside these maps, the update introduces new modes, weapons, and weapon attachments. The developers have also implemented fresh weapon tuning to adjust the meta for the new season.

DMZ Expansion at Hajin

DMZ players gain access to a new exclusion zone known as X01. This area is centered around an underground GRANIT Arms facility located beneath Hajin. Explorers can access new areas, complete specific DMZ Orders, and face new threats and equipment challenges. Players can also participate in the "Threat Briefing: Battle Tank" event, which requires destroying enemy tanks to loot armor fragments for rewards.

Enforcement Against Warzone Agent

Starting with Season 1, the developers are implementing strict enforcement measures against “Warzone Agent,” a paid third-party application used for lobby shopping. While the software does not provide traditional cheats like aimbots, the company states it undermines competitive integrity by allowing players to identify and avoid harder lobbies.

Players attempting to access the game while Warzone Agent is active will be prompted to close the software. Those who fail to comply will be blocked from accessing Multiplayer modes, though Campaign access remains available. Continued attempts to use the tool may result in temporary or permanent account or hardware bans.

Streamlined Progression Brings 120Hz Performance Mode

The new 100-tier Battle Pass features a streamlined, linear progression system that automatically catches players up to the current day of the season, up to Day 50. Content drops include two base weapons, operator skins, weapon blueprints, and various cosmetic rewards.

On the technical side, the update enables “Performance Mode (120Hz)” for all PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players who use compatible 120Hz displays. This setting is now available regardless of VRR support, though the developers recommend using VRR for the most stable experience.

Penalties for Refusing to Close Unauthorized Software

What happens if I refuse to close Warzone Agent? If you do not close the unauthorized software, you will be restricted from accessing Multiplayer modes. Repeated attempts to circumvent these restrictions may lead to permanent account or hardware bans.

How does the new Battle Pass catch-up system work? The system automatically advances your progress to the reward tier corresponding to the current day of the season, provided you have not already reached that tier, up to a maximum of 50 days.

Are there additional events planned for the future? Yes, developers have confirmed that more content, including camo events and additional DMZ-specific challenges, will arrive throughout Season 1 and the mid-season update, Season 1 Reloaded. The developer has not yet released the full, comprehensive patch notes, though they indicated further updates will be shared ahead of the season’s launch.
