Rangers Complete Comeback, Defeat Canadiens 5-4 in Overtime

The Montreal Canadiens played with fire on Saturday at Madison Square Garden, and ultimately got burned.

JT Miller scored his second goal of the game on the power play in overtime, giving the New York Rangers a 5-4 victory over the Canadiens.

Montreal squandered leads of 3-0 and 4-2. Miller secured the win for the Rangers with a powerful one-timer 2:56 into overtime.

We were in full control of the match at 3-0. The other team had no life at this point. Then we started making silly mistakes, which allowed them to come to life. This is the story of the match.

Head coach Martin St-Louis stated his team lacked maturity in its decision-making while holding the lead.

“We start the match well, then we relax for a few games and we find ourselves under pressure afterwards,” explained forward Jake Evans, who returned to the lineup after missing a game for personal reasons.

“We have to play with a sense of urgency,” he added. “We have to play like we’re in the playoffs.”
