Carson City Launches Strategic Plan Survey, Seeking Public Input for 2027-2031 Goals
Carson City is inviting residents, businesses, and community organizations to participate in shaping the city’s future through a new Strategic Plan Survey. The survey will inform the development of a five-year strategic plan, covering the fiscal years 2027 through 2031, which will guide city priorities and resource allocation.
Strategic Planning Process
The purpose of strategic planning is to establish clear priorities, effectively allocate resources, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure alignment among city employees and stakeholders toward common objectives. The current strategic plan will conclude on June 30, 2026, and this new plan will build upon the progress made over the past five years.
How to Participate
Residents can participate in the strategic planning process in two ways:
- Online Survey: Complete the Strategic Plan Survey. Both English and Spanish versions are available. The survey closes on March 23, 2026.
- Public Meeting: Attend a public meeting scheduled for March 12, 2026, at the Bonanza Room at the Community Center, located at 851 E. William St, Carson City, NV 89701.
Past Accomplishments
Over the past five years, the city has utilized its strategic plan to prioritize initiatives that improve the quality of life and services for the community. Notable accomplishments include the construction of Station 55 and the completion of the current master plan. Annual reports detailing progress on these initiatives have been presented to the Board of Supervisors.
Master Plan Update
Carson City is similarly currently undertaking a major update to its Envision Carson City Master Plan, the first since 2006. The updated Master Plan was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on May 1, 2025, and aims to re-establish the city’s vision and goals, as well as update policies to guide future growth.
