Casey Jarvis Grabs One-Shot Lead at Dunhill Links Championship

Casey Jarvis carded a 5-under 67 at Kingsbarns on Friday, two-putting on his final hole to claim a one-shot lead at 11-under 133 in the Dunhill Links Championship, according to the Associated Press. Jarvis sits ahead of a chasing pack that includes Rocco Repetto Taylor, who fired a 64 at Kingsbarns, alongside M.J. Daffue and Matthew Jordan.

Chasing Contenders Close Behind at St. Andrews

Rocco Repetto Taylor of Spain matched the low scoring of the day with a 64 at Kingsbarns, placing him one shot back alongside South Africa’s M.J. Daffue (68 at St. Andrews) and England’s Matthew Jordan (65 at Carnoustie), as reported by the Associated Press. Defending champion Robert MacIntyre shot a 65 in Fife to reach 8-under, tied with five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, who posted a 67 at Kingsbarns.

MacIntyre rebounded from a tournament reprimand on Thursday regarding his temper with drone operators. “It’s just the way I play golf. I’m always on the edge. I’m always pushing to be better,” MacIntyre said, according to the Associated Press.

Links Form Revived After Summer Slump

Jarvis entered the tournament seeking a turnaround after a quiet summer following consecutive victories at the Kenya Open and South African Open in February. He narrowly missed selection for the International team at the Presidents Cup before finding his footing with a top-10 finish at the British Open.

“It’s nice to be back, and I think this week can give me a bit of confidence toward the end of the season,” Jarvis said, per the Associated Press. “I played two links courses in the past month (Irish Open and Nexo Championship at Aberdeen), and I haven’t played particularly well. But I think the finish at The Open really helped. … I know I can compete when we do play links golf.”

Weekend Cut Ahead at the Old Course

The tournament format pairs professional golfers with amateur partners across three rotation courses: Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, and the Old Course at St. Andrews. Field leaders Jarvis, MacIntyre, Koepka, and Tyrrell Hatton advance to play St. Andrews on Saturday ahead of the 54-hole cut.

Matt Fitzpatrick dropped five shots off the pace following a 70 after capturing the French Open the previous week. Meanwhile, Tyrrell Hatton recovered from a difficult start at Carnoustie with a 66 to sit seven strokes back, and Scottish player Michael Stewart slipped from a share of the lead to 71 at Kingsbarns after completing a Tartan Pro Tour event that didn’t finish until Wednesday.
