The local police with the new Mg 5

(Gianluca Masters) Clearly growing numbers in 2025 for the local police. In the meantime, let’s start by saying that a new car has arrived, a full electric MG 5 station wagon financed with money from a regional tender, to replace the Nissan Leaf which was now malfunctioning.
Traffic police checks increased, which were 103 compared to 90 the previous year. Road accidents are decreasing: commander Andrea Assandri and his agents detected 26 while in 2024 there were 43.
The fines for violation of the highway code have almost doubled, going from 832 to 1523 in one year. The amount of fines for non-compliance with the highway code included in the forecast budget thus goes from 95,266.98 to 119,533.26 euros. Remaining within the scope of traffic police activity, the 11 sanctions against scooter drivers who either did not have a helmet or were traveling with two people on the vehicle stand out. Fines for parking on pavements also more than doubled, a bad habit of some, punished by officers 55 times.
Are there still people driving around without insurance? Certain. In fact, the officers issued 30 fines in 2025 (there were 13 in 2024). And without having carried out the inspection? Also. And even in this case fines are on the rise: 93 compared to 91 in the previous twelve months.
Speaking of fines, we will try to recover the unpaid ones. “In 2025 – writes Assandri in the report – the procedures were started for the issuance of fines for the years 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 for a total of 173 thousand euros”.
In the sector of combating urban decay, the local police carried out 271 foot patrols, compared to 211 in 2024 and 38 patrol services in support of the carabinieri. Six violations of the urban police regulations were ascertained, and two clearing operations were carried out.
As regards activities to protect citizens, nine checks were carried out in public establishments, 52 at markets, fairs and amusement parks, 4 on pollution or disturbance of public peace and three offenses involving economic activities were reported.
Finally, the presence at demonstrations, from the Run for ALS to Happy Beach, from civil and commemorative ceremonies to religious ones: the local police totaled 400 hours of work in 2025.
