Donald Trump appalled people around the world when he threw a ‘pig’ insult at a reporter on Air Force One this week.
The US President pointed his finger in the reporter’s face and said: ‘Quiet, piggy’, after being faced with a question about the Epstein files.
Video footage showed the reporter asking: ‘If there’s nothing incriminating in the files, then why-‘, before Trump cut her off and made the shocking remark.
The reporter whose face Trump pointed his finger at has been revealed to be Catherine Lucey, the White House correspondent for Bloomberg News.
A White House official defended Trump’s outburst and insulting treatment of Catherine to the Daily Mail afterwards.
They claimed that Catherine ‘behaved in an inappropriate and unprofessional way towards her colleagues on the plane’.
The official added: ‘If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to take.’
Catherine is a long-serving and accomplished political journalist with over 20 years of experience.
She previously worked as a White House reporter for both the Wall Street Journal and the Associated Press, before joining Bloomberg nearly a year ago.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Catherine started off as an editorial assistant for the Associated Press in 2001.
She also reported on Iowa’s state government for the Associated Press after a lengthy stint as a City Hall reporter for the Philadelphia Daily News.
Many have labelled Trump’s outburst as ‘disgusting’, but Catherine is yet to publicly comment on it.
It wasn’t even the only time the 79-year-old lashed out at Catherine, with him also getting angry over her questions on Sunday.
The reporter asked Trump about an interview Tucker Carlson did with far-right agitator Nick Fuentes.
In response, the US President snapped: ‘You are the worst! You’re with Bloomberg, right? You are the worst!
‘I don’t know why they even have you.’
Catherine appeared to keep her cool and did not respond to either attack.
Trump’s insulting deflection came as pressure mounted on him regarding his past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
The controversy around the Epstein files has been persistently following Trump throughout his second term as president.
