The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its volleyball student-athlete of the week honors on Monday, recognizing standout performances from Carthage College’s Kristina Manojlovic and Hailey Wierzgac alongside North Central College’s Sarah Harvey.
Offensive Honors for Carthage Outside Hitter Kristina Manojlovic
Kristina Manojlovic earned the CCIW Offensive Player of the Week nod after driving the Carthage attack across 15 sets. The senior outside hitter from Skokie, Illinois, totaled 72 kills, averaging 4.80 kills per set while hitting .267. Manojlovic posted back-to-back matches with more than 20 kills, recording 23 against Bluffton University and following up with 24 against Hope College.
Beyond her offensive output, Manojlovic accumulated 88 total points to average 5.87 points per set. Her all-around contributions for Carthage also featured 10 service aces, 58 digs, and 11 blocks during the stretch.
Defensive Control by Carthage Middle Blocker Hailey Wierzgac
Hailey Wierzgac captured the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week award after dominating the net for Carthage. The sophomore middle blocker from Chicago Ridge, Illinois, rejected 31 attacks across 15 sets, averaging 2.07 blocks per set while maintaining a .344 hitting percentage.
Wierzgac reached double figures in blocks twice during the week, securing 10 stuffs against both Wheaton College and Bluffton University. She added nine more blocks against Earlham College, contributing 26 kills and finishing with 42.5 total points for an average of 2.83 points per set.
Playmaking Milestones for North Central Setter Sarah Harvey
Sarah Harvey secured the CCIW Setter of the Week honor after orchestrating the North Central offense through three matches. The junior setter from Bollingbrook, Illinois, dished out 90 total assists, leading the conference with an average of 11.25 assists per set. Harvey was the lone conference setter to average double-digit assists per set over the week, highlighted by 33 assists in a three-set sweep of Millikin University.
Along with directing the North Central attack, Harvey’s performance pushed her into the top 10 in program history for career assists, bringing her career total to 1,294.
