ČD Restaurant Partners with Coca-Cola, Plans Advance Ordering for Train Passengers

Czech Railways (České dráhy) is enhancing its onboard dining experience through its ČD Restaurant service, operated by JLV. The key changes include a new beverage partnership with Coca-Cola and plans to introduce advance meal ordering, mirroring a popular service offered by airlines.

Coca-Cola Replaces Pepsi as Beverage Provider

After years of serving Pepsi products, ČD Restaurant, with service by JLV, has switched to Coca-Cola as its primary beverage supplier. This change was announced alongside a new seasonal menu on February 25, 2026.

Advance Meal Ordering to Launch This Year

JLV is developing a system that will allow passengers to order meals when purchasing their train tickets. This pre-ordering option aims to guarantee availability of desired items and potentially offer lower prices compared to onboard purchases. JLV CEO Bohumír Bárta indicated the service is expected to launch later in 2026.

Continued Growth and Service Expansion

ČD Restaurant currently operates on 187 trains daily, with positive feedback from both domestic and international passengers. Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Czech Railways, believes that high-quality onboard dining is a key factor in attracting passengers away from cars and towards train travel.

Seasonal Menu Highlights

The new seasonal menu, developed in collaboration with the Association of Chefs and Confectioners of the Czech Republic, features dishes such as lentil soup with sausage and carrots, veal cutlet with cheddar and bacon sauce, orecchiette with vegetable ragout, and apple pie. Classic menu items like sirloin and steak remain available.

Sales Remain Strong Despite Dining Car Changes

Despite the discontinuation of classic dining cars on the Prague-Berlin route due to the introduction of ComfortJets with bistro cars, JLV has reported continued sales growth.

Leo Express Also Updates Menu

Competitor Leo Express has also recently updated its menu, adding items like a salami sandwich, a spring baguette, and Japanese onigiri. Fried camembert with tartar sauce and potato grenaille have been reintroduced based on passenger requests.
