Heavy rain drenched Central Florida on Monday, November 2, 2026, dropping over 22 inches of rain in parts of Brevard County and prompting flood warnings, road closures, and school cancellations across the region. Deep tropical moisture combined with a slow-moving upper-level disturbance to drive the severe downpours.
Brevard County Records Over 22 Inches of Rainfall
Central Florida faced severe weather on Monday as a stalled upper-level disturbance funneled heavy downpours across the Orlando metro area and the Space Coast. Rainfall totals reached extreme levels in Brevard County, where Grant-Valkaria recorded 22.78 inches and Port Malabar logged 21.8 inches, according to WESH. FOX 35 Storm Team reported that the torrential rainfall flooded streets and neighborhoods, leaving vehicles stranded, roads washed out, and emergency crews rescuing residents. In Palm Bay, officials issued a shelter-in-place advisory for thousands of residents and urged people to stay off flooded roadways.

Other parts of the region also saw significant accumulation. WESH data shows Berner Beach received 20.93 inches, West Lynbrook measured 18.25 inches, Melbourne Beach logged 16.7 inches, and West Melbourne recorded 13.50 inches. Lighter totals were reported further inland and to the north, including 6.69 inches in Apopka, 6.05 inches in Lockhart, and 2.88 inches in Kissimmee.
Flood Warnings and School Closures Disrupt the Region
A flood watch remained in effect for all of east central Florida through 7 p.m. Monday, warning of potential flash flooding due to already saturated grounds. WKMG reported that an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain remained possible as bands of heavy precipitation stretched from the coast into Orlando. Ground conditions offered little capacity to absorb more water, particularly in Brevard County.

Brevard County canceled school for the day as heavy rainfall overwhelmed drainage systems and sent water rushing through residential areas, as noted by FOX 35 Storm Team. WFTV reported that a Weather Alert Day was issued for the region as periods of rain and a few storms persisted through the morning commute.
Drier Air and Falling Temperatures Approach Central Florida
Rain coverage is expected to decrease gradually from Tuesday into Wednesday as the responsible weather disturbance weakens and stalls near Florida. WKMG reported that rain chances will range from 40% to 50% for Election Day on Tuesday before dropping to 30% on Wednesday. As winds relax and sunshine returns, afternoon temperatures will climb back into the low to middle 80s.
A much-needed break from the rain is expected later in the week. Rain chances will fall to 20% or less from Thursday through the weekend as moisture levels drop. Afternoon highs will remain in the low to mid-80s, while lower humidity brings cooler overnight temperatures in the 60s for most locations. Looking ahead, a cold front could approach around next Monday, bringing another opportunity for showers and storms, with some of the coolest air of the season potentially following by Tuesday and Wednesday.
