The Meteorological Directorate of Chile (DMC) issued an alert for a Extreme High Temperature Event in three regions, mainly in the central area of the country.
According to what was reported by the organization This Saturday, this heat wave will be recorded next Tuesday, February 17in the regions of Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Metropolitana, with temperatures that will reach up to 37 degrees.
High temperatures will be recorded throughout the day, specifically in the following sectors:
- Coquimbo: Coastal Cordillera, Precordillera and Precordilleran Valleys – Temperatures between 33 and 35 degrees.
- Valparaíso: Coastal, Coastal Mountains – Temperatures between 28 and 37 degrees.
- Metropolitan: Mountain range, Valley and Foothills – Temperatures between 33 and 36 degrees.
It should be noted that when talking about Alert, the DMC refers to “meteorological phenomena with a strong degree of severity, with the probability of generating risks for people. “Stay informed of your progress and follow the instructions of the authorities, avoid unnecessary risks.”
