Cergy’s Le Carreau Reopens as a Multifunctional Community Hub
After a period of closure, Le Carreau in Cergy has reopened its doors on March 9, 2026, transforming into a multifaceted space that combines a town hall annex, a neighborhood center and an exhibition area for visual arts. The renovation and redesign aim to create a more inclusive and accessible community resource for residents.
From Vaccination Center to Community Space
Originally functioning primarily as an exhibition hall, Le Carreau served as an ephemeral vaccination center during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it has been reimagined as a “plural place,” according to city officials, responding to community needs identified through workshops and surveys conducted over the past year.
Addressing Community Needs
The reopening addresses a necessitate for additional community resources in the Greater Center area of Cergy, relieving congestion at the Linandes neighborhood center, which serves residents of Marjoberts and Doux Épis. Agnès Coffin, deputy responsible for local life and relations with users, stated in December 2024 that the growing population and evolving nature of the Greater Center necessitated a new community space.
