Motorola’s Exchange Plan and Device Protection Options
Motorola offers several programs designed to help users upgrade and protect their smartphones, including the Exchange Plan and various protection plans through Moto Care. These options aim to make upgrading devices more affordable and provide peace of mind against damage and malfunctions.
Motorola Exchange Plan: Trade-In for Savings
Motorola’s Exchange Plan allows users to trade in their existing mobile devices as a credit towards the purchase of a new Motorola smartphone. This program, developed in conjunction with Assurant, is available at official Motorola stores throughout the country.
- Locations: The Exchange Plan is accessible at Motorola Flagship Stores and Motorola Stores located in shopping malls. As of March 20, 2026, Motorola has 8 Flagship Stores and 29 Motorola stores.
- Evaluation Process: A specialized advisor will inspect the trade-in device to determine its value based on the model and condition.
- Eligible Devices: Users can trade in a variety of devices, from entry-level to high-end models, including those from the Moto G, Moto Edge, and Motorola Razr lines.
Trade-In Device Requirements
To be eligible for the Exchange Plan, the trade-in device must meet certain requirements:
- Functionality: The device must be fully functional, with a working screen, buttons, and battery.
- Condition: Both aesthetic condition and operational status will be evaluated by the advisor.
- Damage: Devices with screen damage may still be accepted, with a corresponding value adjustment.
Preparing Your Device for Trade-In
Motorola recommends the following steps before participating in the Exchange Plan:
- Backup Data: Create a backup of all important data stored on the device.
- Remove Passwords: Remove any lock passwords or security features.
- Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset to erase all personal information.
- Remove SIM & Memory Card: Remove the SIM card and any memory cards.
