VF sport’s columnist Johan Ekberg after Färjestad‘s loss at home to Malmö.
I had high hopes for Radim Zohorna.
Some of that hope stemmed from my personal connection – after several years following him while he played for my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, I was naturally curious.
But mostly, my optimism came from what I’d seen on the ice. He looked like an almost unstoppable force, a steamroller who could both create opportunities and be a challenging opponent to defend against near the net.
And the first few games only increased my excitement.
I saw Zohorna distributing the puck effectively, and I saw him creating combinations – particularly in a line with Viktor Lodin and Luke Philp. it was clear he possessed quality.
But then his performance began to decline, and substantially.
The fact that he then sustained an injury while playing for the Czech national team certainly didn’t help matters.
