Ramsey’s Emotional Return and Uncertain Future
ramsey played 26 reserve-grade games for the Red V last season, but his first game back was the most meaningful. “I just wanted to get back and play football, see what that looked like.I didn’t really know if anyone else did either,” he said.
He acknowledges the risk involved. “I could have played five games and had a problem with my guts. I wasn’t nervous, I was ecstatic. Emotional is the best way to describe it.”
The return was a meaningful relief for Ramsey and his family. They hadn’t seen him play or train during his recovery. “They didn’t really know what it looked like.I was still 80 kilos, so they still saw me as recovering. So then they see me run around, tackle, get tackled, and get smashed. Obviously, I was well-prepared.”
Now with the Roosters, ramsey is unsure of his role in the 2026 season. captain Tedesco, coming off a Dally M-winning year, remains the established fullback after extending his contract through 2027. Youngster Rex Bassingthwaighte is also considered a future option at fullback.
“I just want to put my head down and learn anything from anyone,” Ramsey stated.
