Colby Volleyball wrapped up its non-conference weekend on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 with set scores of 20-25, 13-25, and 21-25 to ninth-ranked MIT at Rockwell Cage, colbyathletics.com reported. The Mules fought hard throughout the matchup, totaling 30 kills, 29 assists, and six team blocks against the Engineers.
Offensive Leaders and Setters Drive Mules’ Play
Brady Moseley served as Colby’s kill leader for the afternoon, recording nine kills and a .208 hitting percentage alongside a team-high 11 digs. Seven kills came from Evelyn Kunde, alongside three kills and a successful block by Cyanne Jones, resulting in a .333 hitting percentage. Brianna Hazak added three kills, six digs, and two service aces. In the front row, Marjorie Johnson and Haley Beigh added two kills apiece, while Kendall Glover chipped in two kills and a pair of blocks. Throughout both weekend matches, middle hitter Marjorie Johnson sustained consistent offensive momentum and offered Colby a dependable presence at the net. Reliable direction came from setters Sydney DeProfio and Gabby Grujic over the course of the weekend, who maintained an adaptable offense through accurate ball distribution to attackers and contributions across multiple statistics. Sydney DeProfio set a team-leading 13 assists, with Gabby Grujic adding 10 assists and four digs. First-year setter Reese Blanchard added to the depth with overall team assists, recording five assists in two sets of play.
Defensive Efforts and Back-Row Contributions
Libero Reese Loyd anchored the back-row defense with 12 digs, accompanied by service aces from both Jordan Lee and Olivia Drayden. Freshman Anaya Francois continued to build on her back-row contributions, recording four digs and an assist block at the net.
