College of Charleston Men’s Tennis Dominates Hofstra in CAA Opener
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men’s tennis team (8-4, 1-0) secured a decisive 6-1 victory over Hofstra (0-12, 0-1) at the Turner Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon, marking a strong start to their Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) campaign.
Doubles Play Sets the Tone
The Cougars swiftly gained the upper hand by winning the doubles point. Jake Smith and Ram Mude showcased their prowess with a 6-2 win in the No. 2 slot, while Jakub Solarski and Eddie Vo followed suit with a 6-4 victory on court one. Charleston also earned a point via forfeit on court six, establishing a 1-0 lead.
Singles Competition Seals the Win
Leon Harder extended Charleston’s lead with a commanding 7-5, 6-0 straight-set win in the No. 2 position. Dani Farran then clinched the match for the Cougars, delivering a dominant performance with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 spot.
Jake Smith contributed another point for Charleston, securing a two-set win (6-3, 7-5) on court four. Ram Mude battled through a hard-fought three-set match on court three, ultimately prevailing with a score of 6-1, 6-7 (6), 1 (7), adding a sixth point for the Cougars.
Hofstra managed to secure a single point with a three-set victory on court one, resulting in a final score of 6-1 in favor of Charleston.
