According to the complaint filed by Commonwealth Edison, Vista Medical Center East accumulated a past-due balance totaling $1,444,821.19 for electricity provided to its facility at 1301 N. Lewis Ave. in Waukegan. The utility states that despite multiple notices and demands for payment, the hospital has failed to settle the outstanding charges. The lawsuit asks the court to award the full balance owed, plus legal fees and court costs.

Vista Medical Center East and its sister facility, West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, faced intense scrutiny when their previous owner, American Healthcare Systems, abruptly suspended operations at both hospitals in early 2024.
