Cornhole Champion Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting
Dayton James Webber, a Maryland man who gained recognition as the first quadruple amputee to compete in the professional American Cornhole League (ACL), has been arrested and charged with murder. Authorities allege Webber fatally shot a passenger in his vehicle during an argument on Sunday night.

According to a statement from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. On Sunday, March 23, 2026, while Webber was driving with Bradrick Wells, 27, as his front-seat passenger. An argument ensued between the two men in the presence of other passengers in the vehicle. Webber allegedly shot Wells, then pulled over in La Plata, Maryland, and asked the other passengers to help him dispose of the body. They refused and left the scene, flagging down officers with the La Plata Police Department.
Discovery of the Body and Arrest
Approximately two hours later, a resident of Charlotte Hall, Maryland, reported a body in a yard. Investigators identified the body as Bradrick Wells and pronounced him dead. A warrant was issued for Webber’s arrest. Authorities located Webber’s vehicle in Charlottesville, Virginia, and found him at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for an unspecified medical issue.
