Nicki Minaj Sued for $275K in Unpaid Concert Production Costs

Nicki Minaj and her company, Pink Friday Productions, are facing a lawsuit from 24/7 Productions for allegedly failing to pay over $275,000 in production costs related to her 2023 performances and the rollout of her album, Pink Friday 2.

Origins of the Dispute

The dispute began with services provided during Minaj’s performance at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. 24/7 Productions provided live entertainment production services for the artist, and their collaboration continued into 2023 with increased demands.

Jingle Ball and ‘Pink Friday 2’ Rollout

24/7 Productions was contracted to handle logistics and production for Minaj’s appearances at the 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball concerts in Chicago and Atlanta, as well as promotional events in Novel York City surrounding the release of Pink Friday 2. The company says it provided services including advance planning, on-site management, staffing, audio production, lighting, rigging, and ground transportation.

Approved Budgets and Unpaid Invoices

According to the lawsuit, Minaj’s team approved detailed budgets for these events, but 24/7 Productions never received payment for the expenses they fronted. The production company advanced over $275,000, expecting reimbursement following the concerts, particularly as Minaj reportedly earned $650,000 from her Jingle Ball performances alone.

Attempts at Resolution

24/7 Productions attempted to resolve the issue with Minaj’s team, but reportedly received vague responses. According to AllHipHop, Minaj’s company acknowledged the debt in writing, stating they would remit payment “as soon as it is received.” This promise was never fulfilled.

Legal Action and Claims

The lawsuit, filed by 24/7 Productions (USA) Inc., alleges breach of contract and unjust enrichment. The company is seeking $275,149.62, plus interest and court costs. They claim to have meticulously documented all expenses, including crew staffing, lighting, and audio equipment.

Previous Financial Issues

This lawsuit comes after Minaj settled a debt of over half a million dollars in January to avoid a forced sale of her $20 million Los Angeles mansion, as reported by Black Enterprise.
