Mina Releases Unreleased Vault Tracks in New Album

Mina releases her brand-new album, Delightful unpublished surpluses, on October 9, offering listeners ten previously unreleased studio tracks and rarities spanning from the early 1970s up to April 2026. Corriere.it reported that the project features completely unreleased interpretations that even the most dedicated collectors have never heard before, distinguishing it from previous rare-track compilations that relied on advertising jingles or B-sides. The release marks the third chapter in a series gathering unreleased gems, adding the word “inedite” to its title because the tracks were never published on record, while “eccedenze” reflects their origins across different periods of her discography. Produced by Massimiliano Pani Mazzini—who added his mother’s surname in the summer of 2025—the album arrives via PDU and includes nine unreleased covers alongside a track that had gone out of print. Speaking about proposals for biopics or series, Pani Mazzini noted that “tantissime” offers have arrived over the years from both home and abroad, but none were ever deemed “efficace”. Regarding upcoming cinematic collaborations, unreleased tracks have been proposed for Ferzan Özpetek’s new project, though it is not yet decided how many will ultimately feature in the film, alongside potential new songs.

Mina Selects Songs Based on Vocal Versatility

The tracklist crosses multiple decades and styles without following a rigid conceptual theme. Producer Massimiliano Pani explained that the album relies entirely on the artist’s enduring vocal versatility. Rather than choosing only major hits, Mina selected songs she felt deserved greater fortune, including an exuberant flamenco-dance rendition of the Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby that was originally left off Mina sings the Beatles and ultimately chosen to close the record for its sheer fun and madness.

Modern Recordings and Studio Preservation

Despite being away from the stage for 48 years and television for 50, Mina continues to record actively, driven by a personal curiosity that sees her evaluating 3-4 mila canzoni l’anno sent in largely by amateurs. When a track catches her interest, she personally telephones the songwriter, who frequently hangs up thinking it is an amicable prank. Pani Mazzini noted that she listens to music constantly, citing artists like Jacob Collier, Esperanza Spalding, and Cory Henry as examples of extraordinary musicians worth seeking out beyond automated streaming suggestions, which he compared to an antitrust issue.

Physical Release Features Historical Photos and Sketches

The physical release features a twelve-page booklet of alternative photographs curated from historical photo shoots and sketches by longtime visual collaborator Mauro Balletti. The black-and-white cover portrait utilizes a striking, sculptural makeup look originally captured for the 1982 album Italian.

To support the release, director Ferzan Özpetek helmed a cinematic video for “Vento di passione.” The clip features actor Luca Argentero listening to the track and responding in real-time, marking another creative crossover between the singer’s musical universe and Italian cinema.
